A ray of hope or another false dawn for commuters on the Cambridge line? #uktrains #yam #in

Excellent speech from Sir Alan Haselhurst pointing out the many deficiencies in the rail transport infrastructure between London and Cambridge (and stations in between) – including Stansted Express. I’m one of the many long-suffering commuters on this route that have seen a year on year detioration in the service, matched only by the year on year inflation-busting price rises.

I’m less encourage by the response from Theresa Villiers (Minister of State Rail and Aviation) which sounds more like tinkering with the current system rather than getting to the root of the problems – not enough track or carriage capacity.

I live in hope, but will probably be well past retirement before any improvement to the service is realised! Glad at least that the debate is being aired.
