Steve

I’m a life-long learner with an insatiable curiosity about life. I love travel, good food, and good company. I’m happy to share what I know with others….even the interesting stuff! My outlook on life is pretty well captured in this quote from a book about the legend of King Arthur: “You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn!” ― T.H. White, The Once and Future King

Stephen DaleJuly 25, 2008October 11, 2020

An interesting discussion over at Jon Mell’s blog about Enterprise 2.0 tools and the need for systems developers to consider business process context for the tools and not assume the users will intuitively know this. I think there is merit in this…

Is Web2.0 the same at Enterprise 2.0 – and does it really matter?

Stephen DaleJuly 23, 2008October 11, 2020

(Photo by Daniel F. Pigatto) I was in two minds on whether to get involved with this debate/discussion, but since we now seem to have accepted “Enterprise 2.0” into the social computing lexicon I thought I should at least ensure I’ve got a clear u…

Browsing websites costs billions in lost productivity

Stephen DaleJune 20, 2008October 11, 2020

I worry that some people believe this sort of rubbish. According to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) the average UK worker spends ninety minutes a week misusing corporate internet connections. The CBI said that workers are spending roug…

Microsoft lags IBM in Social Software

Stephen DaleJune 16, 2008October 11, 2020

All of those organisations trudging zombie-like towards implementation of Sharepoint as a social media solution might do well to read about the result of a ‘face-off’ between IBM’s Lotus Connections and Microsoft’s Sharepoint (MOSS 2007) products,…

Why many organisations will fail with Enterprise 2.0

Stephen DaleJune 11, 2008October 11, 2020

Euan Semple pretty much hits the nail on the end with his post on why companies (organisations) will fail with their approach to Enterprise 2.0. The fundamental reason is they still don’t get it, and not helped by the hype from the big vendors (no…
